Tra la la la

Dear all (family, friends, family friends, friendly families, etc.),

You rock! There. I said it. I send you big ol´smiles and hugs and all the joy this little Hna. Lindquist heart can muster in an ¨electronic mail¨. La Misión Buenos Aires Sur is wonderful, and, of late, all of the missionaries seem keenly aware of how short our time here really is, but very enthusiastic about how much good can be done in short amounts of time. ¨Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise¨ (Alma 37:6). Even small moments can determine eternity.
This transfer, we´re focusing on diligence. Or rather, working with all your ¨heart, might, mind, and strength¨ even when you feel like you don´t have any. Haha. It´s like being the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow, and Dorothy all at once! Being a missionary makes me keenly aware of my human frailties, but also helps me in great measure sense the greatness, mercy, and condescension of our Heavenly Father.

Bah! There´s so much more I want to say, but time doesn´t permit. So, I´ll fill ya in in a year or so....or next week :)

I love you all!! Thank you so much for your prayers. Thank you for your letters and support in all forms!

  1. LaVerl and I were sealed in the Snowflake Temple on June 5. Afterwards, we went to a restaurant with his children. The restaurant was called “La Cocina de Eva”…no kidding. The food was wonderful. The sign on the door of the restaurant said: “Get right or get left”. The owner, Eva, is so delightful. On the wall, she has a beautiful picture of the Savior hugging a little child. On the tables is a “letter from God to his children” using Biblical quotes with references included that work together to make a lovely message from the scriptures of the happiness and love Heavenly Father has for each one. One of LaVerl’s sons asked her as she was waiting on our table, “Are you Eva, the owner?”. She answered, “I am a servant of the Lord, how can I be of service.” When she came to my spot at the table she whispered to me, “When I tell people that I am Eva, they always tell me things they want me to do differently on my menu!” She is sharing the love of God in her daily walk. I am hoping to get to know her better.

A true story: There was a young man in this ward years ago who was a bit slow in social things and backwards in academics, but through volunteering to play the piano for priesthood (despite his not knowing at all how to do it) he discovered a gift for playing the organ. He was about 17 years old at the time and would learn one song for each week and just loved it and got better and better. He did not have an organ at home and asked if he could use the one at the chapel to practice. “Only adults can use the organ, ” was the “letter of the law” replay and he went away sorrowing. He happened to pass the Catholic Church and went inside and asked the priest if he could please practice on their organ. “You may practice as much as you want and anytime you want,” was the response. In a short while he was baptized into the Catholic Church where he is now serving diligently as a priest. He also makes a very good side income giving organ concerts all over the country.
What do we learn? I have many thoughts on that. We can share them next year. Until later, remember the love that you feel for others and know that is it only a small part of the love I feel for you.

I feel the spirit of the Lord each day verifying that Father in Heaven loves each of us. I know that the Sacrament truly prepares us for the cleansing of the Holy Spirit each week and leaves us as newly baptized innocents. I know that through the atonement of Jesus Christ, and by his grace, we are placed back on the track toward exaltation each time we renew our covenants meaningfully and all he asks back is that we truly love him, accept his love
Love, and share that love as a beacon to all. I know that JOY is the outcome of the plan of Father and that the greatest reward the awaits us is to be able to live as He lives in an exalted state with our posterity expanding for ever providing beauty, variety and love forever.
You and your brothers and sisters are children of Father in heaven. I am your sister in the Eternal View and enjoy being your mother while here one earth. I love knowing the Mother in heaven will be there with Father to welcome each of us back into our Eternal Home and then as exalted beings, we will be allowed to live life as they do: in total AWESOMENESS! As I enjoy seeing you do the things you should and feel the joy that that brings you and me, I better understand how it works that OUR living the gospel and being happy, creates more joy for Father and Mother in heaven.
I love you and know these things are true and that there are many more things for us to learn, know and do throughout all eternity that will bring joy to all.
    Love, Mom
